De-Clutter Your
Mind!
Six Simple Steps to Clear Mental Clutter
and Organise Your Life
Nowadays, most people's lives are pretty hectic.
We all have responsibilities at home and at work, as well
as trying to maintain our social life. This often leads
to us feeling overwhelmed and stops us from functioning
at our best. If any of this sounds familiar then a simple
solution is to take control of your life by practising a
little clutter control. Take the clutter from your mind,
your environment, and ultimately your
life.
Identify Your
Priorities
There
are so many things that we're all trying to get done, but some
are more important than others. Take a step back and you'll see
that some things are not worth getting stressed over. Finishing
a report for work is more important than mowing the lawn. While
the lawn needs to get done sooner or later it's not a priority.
So decide what you need to do first so it gets your full
attention and energy.
Take On One Thing At A
Time
Don't
over commit yourself and finish one project before you start
the next. Make sure you have enough time to get everything done
you promise to do before taking on any more
projects.
Learn To Say
No
People
often find themselves committed to something they didn't want
to be involved in because they are unable to say no. The next
time someone asks you to do something and you know that you
just don't have the time, just say no. The first time is the
hardest, when you've done it once, it won't seem so hard any
more.
Create a To Do
List
Once you've prioritised, make a list. Put the
most important tasks first, then put down the others and
get them done. Most people don't get the last things on
the list done, so just put them on the next days list,
and don't stress it as long as your finish the top things
on the list.
Learn To
Delegate
Take a look at your daily tasks at home and
decide if you can delegate them to other members of the
household. Make them age appropriate and teach even the
kids some responsibility. This will give you more time to
get other things done.
Clean Out Your Living
Areas
Before you can de-clutter your mind, be sure to
eliminate the clutter in your home and office first. If
your surroundings are clean and organized, you can think
much more clearly and your stress levels will plunge to
zero.
There's actually nothing complicated about
eliminating mental clutter. Most of these techniques are
things that you could easily think of on your own. The
bottom line is that if you simplify things, the easier it
will be for you to achieve success in all areas of your
life.
